Senior Airman Gloria Hickle, 9th Physiological Support Squadron (9 PSPTS), cleans, inspects and prepares pressure suits for U-2 Dragon Lady pilots before and after flights. Maintaining these suits is crucial in support of worldwide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) combat missions and the lives of the pilots who wear them. The pressure suit is worn by pilots at high-altitudes to prevent hypoxia due to the lack of oxygen and low pressure in the atmosphere. The first pressure suit was adopted and tested by the military in 1951 then became operational in 1953.
