Honorary Commander Program

The Honorary Commander Program is an Air Force program designed to create lasting connections between Air Force installations and the communities which surround them.

An Honorary Commander is a member of the local community paired up with a commander on Beale Air Force Base.

Honorary Commanders are selected for their positive impact on the community and the program is a way for Team Beale to support those important missions outside the gate.

Col. James Bartran, 9th Reconnaissance Wing Vice Commander, assists his honorary commander, Lon Hatamiya, in the cockpit of one of Beale AFB's T-38 Talon aircraft. Hatamiya was select as an Honorary Commander in 2022.

Mr. Nicholas Whittlesey, the General Manager of the Yuba Water Agency and Col. Geoffrey Church's Honorary Commander.

Attendees of the 2024 Air Force Ball include base leadership and their Honorary Commanders.
