The four-person, best-ball tournament strengthened ties between the base and local community leaders and provided an opportunity for new honorary commanders to build rapport with their military counterparts. The Honorary Commander Program is public outreach program designed to increase the understanding of Air Force missions by pairing community leaders with wing, group and squadron leaders to forge lasting relationships. The event raised approximately $400 to support Operation Warm Heart, a program geared toward improving quality of life for Airmen and their families. During their tenure, Honorary Commanders participate in events, learning details about the multiple aspects of the wing mission. Outside of formally organized events, Honorary Commanders participate in unit level commanders' calls, base activities and other events to experience the day-to-day lives of Airmen.
