Team Beale brings cheer to the EFMP holiday party Published Dec. 18, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Ramon A. Adelan 9th Reconnaissance Wing Public Affairs BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Team Beale supported the Exceptional Family Member Program holiday party coordinated by the Airman and Family Readiness Center Dec. 17, 2014, at Beale Air Force Base, Calif. The EFMP is designed to support family members, both adult and children with special needs such as a physical, developmental, or mental disorder requiring specialized services. The program contributes community support, housing, educational, medical, and personnel services to the families. "The holiday party for the EFMP provides members, a relaxed and calm environment to celebrate the holiday season," said Susan Nichols, 9th Force Support Squadron, A&FRC EFMP family support coordinator. "This event gives us an opportunity to assist families with networking and connecting with others to build a strong support system." More than 20 volunteers assisted families and A&FRC staff with activities during the event. The children were able to get their face painted, decorate crafts, and meet Santa Claus. "Having a family member with a special need, no matter what it may be, can be difficult, so we want to inform and educate the family on the programs available," said Nichols. "It's a joyous time of year and to have the ability to bring joy to children is truly an incredible feeling." For more information about the EFMP, contact the program coordinator at (530) 634-2863.
