“I care for 2-year-olds at the base’s Child Development Center. I love working with children because every day is an adventure. The children are constantly doing new things and learning new skills. We ensure the children are safe and work towards developing their individual needs. The kids get to interact with different games and activities to ensure they are stimulated mentally and physically. We also teach them self-help skills like how to put their jackets on or brush their teeth. It’s rewarding to watch a child learn a new skill or have a new experience. Some children can have difficulties coping with a deployed parent or dual-military parents, but we make sure to take care of them. This gives parents the peace of mind that their children are safe and taken care of, which allows them to focus on their mission. We’re more than just babysitters, working here is like being part of a family.”
