The Beale All-Stars won the contest with a score of 8-4. More than 100 people attended the game and amongst the crowd were Beale Airmen, family members and Gold Sox fans from the local community. "Every year our team looks forward to this event," said Staff Sgt. Blake Anderson, Beale All-Star team player/coach. "Winning this game is more important than any other we play, including intramural championship games. It's great to play on a field as nice as this in front of our families and the local community. It is a lot of fun." Tryouts are conducted each spring to assemble the Beale All-Star team. Beale personnel or family members are welcome to attend. On the contrary, the Gold Sox are a semi-pro baseball team consisting of college baseball players. "In previous years, most players representing the Gold Sox were not actually on the team but this year most of the players were actual Gold Sox players," Anderson said. "It is softball and not baseball, but defeating them is still impressive." At the end of the competition Beale Airmen were recognized for their service to their country and received a standing ovation. "We plan to continue this tradition in the future," said Chief Master Sgt. David Baldridge, Beale All-Star team manager. "We have a great time playing this game each year, and it's a great feeling knowing we have the support of our families and the local community."
