The 9th Force Support Squadron recently installed two Fitness on Request kiosks at workout facilities on base as part of an Air Force-wide effort to provide fitness alternatives to Airmen.

One kiosk has been installed in the aerobics room at the Harris Fitness Center and one kiosk is located on the wooden floors in the Omni.

"This program is another option Airmen have to remain fit to fight," said Staff Sgt. Carlos Vazquez, 9th Force Support Squadron NCO in charge of the Harris Fitness Center. The kiosks offer a variety of courses Airmen have the opportunity to take advantage of."

The trial period for the kiosks will be throughout October, and by November the program is set to be in full swing. Scheduling will be first-come, first-serve. The kiosks will be available to all Airmen, including retirees and family members.

There are more than 30 workouts uploaded onto the fitness kiosks. Group exercises are encouraged to be scheduled through fitness staff. The workouts will be displayed on a large screen enabling sizeable attendance.

Workout routines include kinetics, technical knockout kickboxing, step aerobics, cycling and fusion, which will run for 20-, 30-, 45- and 60-minute increments.

"We like to provide our customers with alternatives to their workout regimen," Vazquez said. "If Airmen push themselves and do what the instructors say, fitness levels will increase."

With many Air Force fitness facilities losing all or part of their local group exercise instructor contract funding, this program will help supplement or replace the group exercise programming.

"The new kiosks enable us to provide courses without having to pay an instructor," Vazquez said. "It's a very cost effective program."
