Team Beale raised 104% of their goal in donations for the Air Force Assistance Fund from March 24th to May 16th here.

Beale raised $93,091 in donations to support charities that provide assistance to Airmen, families, retirees and widowed spouses. This year Beale's goal was $89,874.

"This year's keyworkers and Team Beale's generosity helped us surpass our AFAF goal," said Senior Master Sgt. Robert E. Thurber, Beale AFAF project officer. "The funds raised will help Airmen, families, retirees, and widowed spouses with life's unforeseen circumstances."

The charities affiliated with the AFAF are:

The Air Force Village Foundation - Provides retirement community to care for Air Force officers' widowed spouses in need of financial assistance.

The Air Force Aid Society - Provides worldwide emergency assistance for education, living and vehicle expense to active duty and retired Airmen, and their families.

The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation - Awards grants to enlisted and officer retirees' widowed spouses that fall below the poverty line to assist with hearing aids, dental care and minor home repairs.

The Air Force Enlisted Village - Offers a home to not only widowed spouses but mothers of active duty and retired military members. The AFEV provides temporary housing to surviving spouses of enlisted members who died while on active duty.

According to Thurber, Beale received $202,236 in 2013 for grants, loans, and community programs through the assistance of the Air Force Aid Society.

"Team Beale did a great job in promoting the AFAF to their units and raising support," said Thurber. "They showed the true meaning of Airmen helping Airmen."

Donations are still accepted through the charities listed above; visit their website for more information.
