The 9th Comptroller Squadron finance counter changed its customer service hours last month. The squadron is now open till 8 p.m. on every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

The finance counter is now open late provide financial services to members of Team Beale who don't have a typical work schedule.

"We've extended our service hours on Wednesdays to accommodate shift workers or anyone who needs to come in after the duty day," said 2nd Lt. Nicolas P. Depriest, 9th CS financial service officer.

In addition being open late on two Wednesdays per month, finance is now closed on Fridays during those weeks.

"Having the counter closed on those Fridays is a way for our office to offset staying late on Wednesdays," said Depriest. "We utilized the time wisely, we're able to catch up and focus on the large volume of travel vouchers and Pips [Personal In-Processing System] queues."

The finance office sees more than 200 computer based and hard copy vouchers each week that have to be completed in a meticulous fashion.

"This is a very knowledge intensive job. The rules and regulations are always changing; vouchers have to be done correctly," said Senior Airman Janee E. Osborn, 9th CS lead defense travel administrator. "Having those extra two days to train and become more knowledgeable and proficient, we're able to prevent discrepancies before they occur."

Customer service technicians say the new schedule benefits customers even though the shop is closed for two more days a month.

"The counter maybe closed, but we're here, working requests," said Airmen 1st Class Monika L. Chouinard , 9th CS customer service technician.
