Women's Equality Day

An all-female flight and honor guard team stand in formation for a retreat ceremony honoring Women’s Equality Day at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., Aug. 26, 2013. In 1971, Representative Bella Abzug introduced a bill designating August 26th of each year as Women’s Equality Day, and the bill passed. Part of the bill reads that Women’s Equality Day is a symbol of women’s continued fight for equal rights and that the United States commends and supports them.
