"...Going out there I didn't know what to expect, I was a little nervous..." Published May 28, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Ramon A. Adelan 9th Reconnaissance Wing Public Affairs BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, California -- "I can remember being at my neighbor's house learning to play the guitar. I was 10 years old at the time, and was learning the fundamentals from that old man. A few years later I really got hooked. I was performing with a band during a small music festival; we were actually opening for a national act. Going out there I didn't know what to expect, I was a little nervous, but went out there and played for 5,000 people. After we were done, going backstage everyone was impressed with my playing and maybe the fact I was only 14. I had people coming up to me congratulating me and shaking my hand. If my neighbor was still alive today, I would like to tell him, 'Thank you for instilling in me the foundation for one of the most important aspects of my life: music.'"
