“I started out working at a camp in Catalina Island, California. My last summer working there I found out recreation isn’t just something you do for fun. Someone I worked with was getting a degree in recreation and I thought it was a joke, but I looked into it and learned you can do many different things with it. When I moved back home, I led a physical exercise program for emotionally-disturbed and troubled youth so that was using recreation as a therapeutic way to help them.  For me, it’s about getting as many people out to enjoy what there is around here. It’s easy to get caught up in work, but it’s important to get out in nature, have an adventure, and try something new.”
