Members of the 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, Explosive Ordnance Disposal team hosted a memorial run here May 22, 2013.

The run honored fallen EOD warriors as well as recognized the loss of Capt. Reid Nishizuka, Staff Sgt. Richard Dickson, Capt. Brandon Cyr, and Staff Sgt. Daniel Fannin who were killed in a MC-12 Liberty crash April 27.

"The event is a way we can honor our fallen EOD brothers and sisters," said Senior Airman Jared Crain, 9th CES EOD technician. "The event reminds me of the different experiences each EOD technician has gone through and the losses we have faced as a close-knit community."

Crain ran in the EOD bomb suit during the 4.1 mile course and finished the run just under an hour.

"Running in the bomb suit was a little difficult and exhausting, but a lot of fun," said Crain. "The hardest thing to deal with is lack of mobility."

Participation was free, however donations were accepted and they went toward the EOD Memorial Foundation and the Fisher House.

"We were very happy with the turnout this year," said Tech Sgt. Leonard Livas, 9th CES EOD technician. "We estimate that it was about double of last year's event."

Livas said EOD has raised a grand total of approximately $1200, which is about $950 more than last year's event.

"Doing events like this helps in more ways than just raising money," said Livas. "It brings us together and helps us honor the loss of close friends."
