Colonel (Dr.) DeAndra Price-Newby

Col DeAndra Price-Newby is the 9th Medical Group Commander at Beale Air Force Base, California. Her team of 260 personnel provides Trusted Care and specialized support and training across three Reconnaissance and Air Refueling Wings at Beale Air Force Base and three forward operating detachments, enabling optimal human performance in the delivery of globally integrated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance supporting eleven Combatant Commands.

Col Price-Newby entered active duty through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 2008. She completed the one-year Advanced General Dentistry Air Force Dental Residency Program at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia in 2009 and then proceeded to Dover Air Force Base, Delaware for her first duty assignment. Colonel Price-Newby has served in a variety of positions over her career, including Chief of Dental Services, Squadron Commander, and Deputy Group Commander. In addition to her clinical duties, she manned Dover’s Port Mortuary where she assisted with the identification of this nation’s fallen military heroes.

Prior to taking command of the 9th Medical Group, the Colonel was the Deputy Commander at the 88th Medical Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. She directed the Air Force’s second largest Medical Center with a total annual budget of $137 million, employing a professional and technical staff of over 1,600 personnel supporting readiness, primary and specialty healthcare, and medical education missions across the installation. This 19-bed facility provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient healthcare for 72,000 beneficiaries generating 150,000 out-patient visits, 3,400 same-day surgeries, 700 admissions, and 20,000 dental patients annually. She was also responsible for oversight of training of physicians and dentists in seven residency programs, nurses in the Nurse Transition Program, and physician assistants, psychologists, social workers, and certified nurse anesthetists in respective internship programs. Additionally, Col Price-Newby was responsible for training hundreds of Phase II and Phase III enlisted technicians annually.
