Lieutenant Colonel Melissa C. Day

Lieutenant Colonel Melissa C. Day is the Deputy Commander, 9th Mission Support Group, Beale Air Force Base, California. The Mission Support Group provides support to Beale AFB mission sets. She is responsible for the oversight of day-today support activities that the MSG provides installation wide.

 

Lt Col Day received her commission through the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Bowling Green State University in May 2007. Prior to her current assignment, she commanded the 9th Force Support Squadron, at Beale Air Force Base. She also served as the commander of the 332nd Expeditionary Force Support Squadron at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. She served as 31st Force Support Squadron Operations Officer, Aviano Air Base, Italy, directing unit readiness, plans and training in support of joint defensive operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. As the Military Secretariat Branch Chief at the Joint Staff Directorate for Force Structure, Resources and Assessment, Lt Col Day advised senior leaders on procedures and guidance to plan and execute resources in support of national objectives. In 2010, Lt Col Day deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar to direct manpower actions for five thousand evolving expeditionary requirements.

 

 

Additionally, in 2015 she was the Deputy Director of Protocol for Headquarters Resolute Support in Afghanistan, where she was responsible for planning, coordinating and executing international engagements for 191 distinguished visitors.
