9th Operations Support Squadron

The 9th Operations Group includes the squadrons tasked with carrying out the actual wing missions, including the 9th Operations Support Squadron. The group has seven squadrons and two detachments worldwide totaling more than 840 personnel. It is responsible as the Department of Defense's single-point manager for the U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance fleet. The group organizes, trains and equips U-2 combat elements for worldwide employment to include peacetime intelligence gathering, contingency operations, conventional war fighting, Single Integrated Operational Plan support and mobile wet film exploitation.
The squadrons are as follows: the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron, the 9th Intelligence Squadron, the 9th Operations Support Squadron and the 5th Reconnaissance Squadron (located at Osan Air Base, Korea). The other units include Detachment 1 at Akrotiri, Cyprus; the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron, Le Tube Air Base, France; and the 4402nd Reconnaissance Squadron (Provisional), Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
