The Air Force Equal Opportunity Office strives to accomplish its mission by promoting an environment free from personal, social or institutional barriers that could prevent Air Force members from rising to their highest potential. Air Force policies are in place to ensure the organizations conduct their affairs free from unlawful discrimination and sexual harassment. The policies also provide for equal employment opportunity and treatment for all civilians irrespective of their race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), age, genetic information, disability, or prior EEO activity (reprisal). In the military EO context, the policies provide for equal opportunity and treatment for all members based on their race, color, sex, national, origin, religion, or sexual orientation.
The Beale Equal Opportunity Office provides training, conducts limited inquiries, processes informal and formal complaints, conducts formal complaint clarifications (military cases only) and coordinates complaint investigations. They also provide human relations training guidance in formal and informal equal opportunity and treatment complaints processing, perform unit climate assessments, out and about visits, and provides awareness training on subjects relating to human relations (i.e., cultural diversity, sexual harassment and team building.)
Alternate dispute resolution (ADR) is a voluntary option offered to everyone. It's process involves mediation, facilitation, structured negotiation, or other problem solving techniques, or any combination thereof, which often produces more efficient and effective outcomes. ADR increases the parties' opportunities to resolve disputes prior to or during the use of formal administrative procedures or litigation.
Procedures for processing individual EEO complaints of discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), age, genetic information, disability, or prior EO activity (reprisal) can be found here.
The Equal Opportunity (EO) office is responsible for processing discrimination and sexual harassment complaint from military and civilian personnel at Beale, something that generally involves a lot of face to face communication. To ensure the safety of Beale Air Force base, the EO office may be directed to close and conduct all communication telephonically and through email. Although this may cause setbacks, the EO office is dedicated to ensuring complete and timely processing for all members here. If you have any concerns please contact our office through phone or email.
