Team Beale held a contract signing regarding renovations to the pool in base housing Oct. 5, 2017, at Beale Air Force Base.

The contract signing involved representatives from the 9th Comptroller Squadron, 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, and 9th Contracting Squadron as well as the company awarded the contract.

According to Alicia Nowaczyk, 9th CES senior project manager, the renovations will include repairs to the existing pool and bathhouse, replacement of the concrete and plumbing, and the addition of a splash pad for children.

“We are renovating the existing pool and bath at the Lakehouse pool area,” she said. “The complex is estimated to be approximately 12,000 square feet when completed.”

The 9th CES worked closely with the 9th CONS to price the project and find the right contractor for the job.

“The 9th CES tells us what their vision is and we go and find a contractor capable of completing the project,” said 2nd Lt. David Kirkland, 9th CONS officer in charge of commodities and services. “We also do the price analysis for the project and work with CE so we know what it should cost.”

According to Kirkland, the contract was awarded for 2.15 million dollars and he believes this quality of life project will be well received.

The project is currently in the design portion of its construction and is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2018.

“We are currently in the working with the contractors in the design process to ensure our needs are met,” said Nowaczyk.

Upon completion, the pool will be open to the base populace so they can enjoy the benefits of a pool without having to travel to main base.

“The pool is great for Airmen and their families. It’s a place where they can relax and enjoy their family time,” said Nowaczyk. “It will help give a sense of community and be a huge benefit to the base.”
