Air Combat Command announced that the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., is a recipient of the 2014 ACC Meritorious Unit Award Oct. 27, 2014.

The Meritorious Unit Award is given to Air Force active duty, Reserve and Guard units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding achievement or service in direct support of combat operations for at least 90 continuous days during the period of military operations against an armed enemy of the United States on or after Sept. 11, 2001.

The unit must display such outstanding devotion and superior performance of exceptionally difficult tasks as to set it apart and above other units with similar missions.

"I'm truly grateful and proud of the dedicated Airmen we have here supporting national objectives," said Col. Douglas J. Lee, 9th RW commander. "Earning this award highlights Team Beale's exceptional work over the last year and the mass capabilities we provide around the globe and to the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance enterprise."

The effective dates are June 1, 2013, to May 31, 2014.
