9th Contracting Squadron

MISSION
The 9th Contracting Squadron provides servicing contracting office support to more than 7,000 DoD personnel on Beale AFB, CA. The office processes contract actions valued at more than $43 million annually for the acquisition of complex services, construction, commodities, and contingency contracting requirements unique to the sensitive reconnaissance operations of the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, its detachments and operating locations, tenant units to include the 480th ISR Wing, 940th Air Refueling Wing, the 7th Space Warning Squadron, and a host of other associate units. The 9th Contracting Squadron trains, equips, and deploys contracting officers to execute contingency contracting support to operations worldwide.

The 9th Contracting Squadron is the U.S. Air Force's representative in the local business community and serves as advisor to the 9th Air Base Wing commander on procurement matters such as availability of sources, small business opportunities, and the impact of our local purchase program in nearby communities, as well as being the custodians of the Government Purchase Card (GPC) credit card program.

The 9th Contracting Squadron has the only authorized agents on base to obligate appropriated funds for the Government to pay for supplies or services from a commercial source for obligations over $2,500 (services) and $3,500 (supplies), as well as coordinate on-base product demonstrations by vendors.

Acquisition Flights (LGCA/LGCB). The acquisition flights will lead market research; provide business advice and acquisition planning for solicitation, execute award and perform contract administration; and ensure performance management for all installation acquisition requirements.

Plans and Programs Flight (LGCP). The Plans and Programs Flight will include all functions in support of the contracting squadron. This includes functions such as Information Technology support, administration of the Government-wide Purchase Card Program, Quality Assurance Evaluator Program, contract review committee, focal point for squadron training, squadron performance metric development and trend analysis.


ORGANIZATION
The unit is comprised of 45 military and civilian personnel assigned to the 9th Contracting Squadron. The organizational structure is broken down into three distinct functional flights: The Service & Commodities Acquisition Flight, Construction Acquisition Flight, and Plans and Programs Flight. The 9th Contracting Squadron falls under the 9th Mission Support Group, 9th Reconnaissance Wing, and is located at Beale Air Force Base, California.
